Our chiropractors adapt every treatment for pregnancy, using side-lying positions, pregnancy pillows and gentle techniques.

Pregnancy care at our clinic

How we treat pregnancy pain

  • Gentle joint mobilization and adjustment of the pelvis and spine, adapted to your stage of pregnancy.
  • Soft tissue therapy for tight hips, glutes and back muscles.
  • Exercises and practical advice for sleeping, getting in and out of bed and the car, and staying active safely.
  • Support belts and taping when they help.
  • Prenatal massage with our registered massage therapists, which can be combined with your chiropractic care.

We’re happy to work alongside your midwife, doctor or pelvic floor physiotherapist.

When to call your care provider

Contact your midwife or doctor right away about vaginal bleeding, leaking fluid, regular painful contractions before 37 weeks, severe or constant abdominal pain, a severe headache with vision changes or swelling, or fewer baby movements. These need medical care, not chiropractic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Yes, when it’s provided by a registered chiropractor who adapts treatment for pregnancy. We avoid pressure on the abdomen, use side-lying and supported positions, and adjust techniques as your pregnancy progresses.

When can I start treatment?

At any stage of pregnancy. Many people come in during the second and third trimesters, when back and pelvic pain are most common, and again after delivery.

Can I come in after giving birth?

Yes. Postpartum back, neck and wrist pain from feeding and carrying are common. You’re welcome to bring your baby to your appointment.

Is it covered by my benefits?

Most extended health plans cover chiropractic and massage therapy, and we direct bill most insurers. See fees and direct billing.
